• - The Myths of Culture - The Monuments of Culture - The Landscapes of Culture
  • The Culture Series, juxtaposes cultural symbols and at times natural forms. It is an
investigation of myth; the myths of culture, the myths of history, the myths of religion
and… the myth as culture, as history and as religion. Myth is the exegesis of symbol.
Symbol is both the visible sign and the significance of that sign. I am interested in the
moment of artistic/symbolic formation; how it is described, defined, determined. My
picture making questions the definitions of myth; myth in its strict sense of visual
iconography; myth as fanciful, fictitious, ahistorical; myth as a traditional and legendary
story. And, my belief that much of what is deemed ‘Culture’ in the eurocentric world is
the myth of the established hierarchy.

The Culture Series invites layered interpretations, contemplation of the physical and
spiritual worlds we inhabit. It explores new relationships and the possible meanings that
arise when cultural components are assembled and juxtaposed. It is an attempt to
reimagine new narratives, to seek alternative histories, histories that free us of the mythic
    stereotype.
